Recent Updates

Hey all, today we're going to take a break from the draft analyzing and cover some of the new things that have been going on in the Rams world. The first big news that came was the signing of former Ravens QB Kyle Boller. As a Maryland resident I have seen Boller's career in Baltimore and needless to say it has not been the most promising. However I do believe that given the chance in a new area Boller could return to his college form. His career rating of 71.9 isn't that great, but then again Marc Bulger isn't exactly Tom Brady. I think that picking up Boller instead of Frerotte as backup is a great choice for the rams since he is young, 27, and has a cannon for an arm. Some things that I like about Boller are:

-He played in a West Coast Offense in College and that is what the Rams are switching to this year.
-He seems to be a more mobile QB than Bulger
-He almost led the Ravens to a victory over the undefeated Patriots

The other big pickup in the past few days was the trade that the Rams made with the
Falcons for third year receiver Laurent Robinson. This was a great pickup for the Rams since all they did was switch draft picks in the 5th and 6th round with the Falcons. Also Robinson makes just over half a million this year which is great for our salary cap. Robinson is 6'2 194 lbs making him one of the bigger WR on the Rams roster right now. He also ran the 40 in 4.38 seconds making him a double threat with speed and size. Reports say his has good hands and speed to break out of coverage, the down side being sometimes he catches with his body and has had fumbling problems in the past. Plagued with injuries last year, the only real stats are from his rookie year where he put up 37 catches for 437 yards and a TD. The big thing to notice here is that he averaged 11.8 yds per catch. That is a very nice ypc average, and it is one the Rams could really need. Things I like about Robinson are:

-His size, at 6'2 194 lbs, he is around the same size as Torry Holt which could help fill th
e void he that was left with his release.
-His speed makes him extremly dangerous.
-The fact that he might be able to be our number 1 wr, making it less important to draft a WR and giving us a chance to focus on other problems.
